In 1887, over 120 years ago, Carl Fausel and Friedrich Biskamp founded a wallpaper business, Fausel,Biskamp, in Düsseldorf, Germany. The retail and wholesale business expanded quickly and by the end of the 19th century Fausel,Biskamp had achieved regional importance.

Throughout the first half of the 20th century the company prospered in spite of the upheavals caused by the world wars.

After members of the founder generation were killed in the war Hans Neise took on the responsibility for the future of the business. In the 1950s, together with his son Hans-Jochen Neise, he expanded the wallpaper business to become internationally respected specialists for exclusive wallpapers.

As pioneer Fausel,Biskamp imported grass, hemp and paper woven wallpaper from Asia and metal and vinyl wallpaper from the USA. End of the sixties Hans-Jochen Neise presented avant-garde wallpaper and murals which today are highly sought-after collector’s items.

The wallpaper label – Fausel,Biskamp – haute couture for the wall – came into existence.
